Hope is what we look forward to. Hope is a "preview" of having something we don't have now - and noticing how it feels to "have it." In our Preview we have things we want or need now. Problems are no longer problems - they are resolved. We have attributes that we don't have now - like patience, willingness, etc. Hope has a positive energy-vibe. Hopelessness has a negative energy-vibe. What happens when these two energy vibes play? The same thing that happens when light interacts with darkness. The basic idea is that when darkness and light meet and interact, light energizes and transforms darkness. It’s like when you walk into a dark room, and turn on a light-switch, suddenly it’s not a dark room any longer. Likewise, when you have a negative thought or worry, and you allow a positive possibility or idea (Hope) to interact with it - not fight it ... just playfully interact with it - suddenly you’re not in a dark spot any longer. I hope my songs help bring light and happiness to people everywhere, especially if they’re having a tough time or in a difficult situation. Because so many people comment on how my songs make them feel better and happier, motivating thoughts and actions, rather than sell my fun songs for a fixed price, I’ve decided to make them available on a Pay What You Want, basis. That may sound crazy, but this idea already has so much positive, playful energy, I’m acting on it. The donations will help me to continue making the music that makes so many people happy and feel positive. Here’s an example of where this idea can go. Two years ago, Michelle Nichols and I were introduced. She started National Hug Your Kids Day in memory of her son, Mark, who died from brain cancer at age 8 ½ a decade earlier. Howard Putnam, my former boss and CEO at Southwest Airlines, had asked that I help Michelle out with a song for her campaign - which I did to my surprise in less than an hour after she and I spoke, at no cost to her. She took the song and made a video of families with children of various abilities dancing and hugging to the song. It’s really heart-touching.
